The Everest team of Bahrain had started their acclimation climb around Lukla ahead of their Everest summit trek. The team wrote in their Instagram post that they reached Lukla, a small town near the base of Mt Everest, after a delay of four days, owing to bad weather.
The 16-members Bahraini mountaineering team, which includes 13 Bahrain Defence force members and 3 British nationals, will begin their final expedition in the second week of May.
The group will stay in Nepal for a total of 80 days. The same team, last year, had successfully scaled Lobuche and Manaslu peaks in Nepal. Local Samagaon authorities also renamed a peak in their honour of Bahraini Royals after the Royal Guards expedition climbed Manaslu.
