Woman gets beaten up in public by man in viral video, suspect caught: Bahrain

Police arrested a man found guilty of attacking a woman physically, in a suspected case of road rage, following an investigation into a video that went viral of the incident online.

In the harrowing footage, a woman is beaten up ruthlessly by a man on a busy street in Malikiya. The footage of the attack in public had also taken the internet by storm.

After taking cognizance of the matter, Southern Hamad Town Police said that they had arrested the accused seen in the video, and further investigation is on.

According to police, the woman got beaten up following an altercation with the man.

After exchanging heated arguments, the man thrashed the woman in the presence of several onlookers, with one of them recording the incident and uploading it on to social media platforms.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Northern Governorate announced opening an investigation upon receiving a report on the attack.

Police took the suspect into custody, with him also confessing to the crime after confronting him with the video of the attack circulated online.

Public Prosecution has ordered him into custody pending investigation.

Formalities are ongoing to put him to trial before a competent court.
