As the man sat down on the floor to open the glass door, he waited patiently on the other side, wagging his tail. He kept his sad eyes trained at the doorknob as the technician wrestled to opened it.
The animal looked frail and vulnerable after left without food or water for over days but stood high on spirits. Before opening the door, the first thing his (Husky) rescuer did was to push in some food and water under the door. According to the Bahrain Animal Welfare Society, the dog got trapped inside the abandoned house for several days.
The society learned about the situation from a call from the village of Al Maqsha. “I received a call from a Bahraini citizen saying that there is a dog trapped inside a villa without food and water and that the animal is in a vulnerable condition,” said Mahmoud Faraj, Chairman of Bahrain Society for Animal Welfare. “So, we went there to find out if the call was real.”
“There we found a husky. The poor thing was in a very vulnerable condition. We managed to pass some food and water under the door to him.” “We found that the building belongs to Jafari endowments. So, we contacted them immediately.” “They were helpful and sent us a technician to open the door. “As we took him out, he was ‘extremely’ thin and hungry, but gentle.” “His eye looked sab and timid.”
“So, we took the dog immediately to veterinary clinic belonging to the association to ensure his health and safety.” “And, he is recovering.” The villa, according to the endowments, is not rented to anyone and was remained closed.
A neighbour, however, confirmed that the dog was brought there by a man, a Bahraini citizen. He told them that he is guarding the place. Neighbours also confirmed that he visited only weekly. Mahmoud Faraj said the association had filed a case against the owner of the dog. The police are checking footages from nearby cameras to spot the dog’s owner and present it to the Public Prosecution.
