His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday issued directives to double the social security assistance as well as disability pensions for Bahraini citizens.
HRH Prince Salman, who chaired yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting held remotely, ordered the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to start disbursing payments during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The directives came within the framework of the government support for needy families and individuals with special needs on various occasions, including Ramadan.
The Cabinet praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for reaffirming the Kingdom’s full support for Jordan to protect its sovereignty, under the leadership of HM King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, and highlighted the strength of Bahraini-Jordanian relations.
The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s goals to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), reduce mortality and hospital admission rates, increase vaccination rates, and encourage all citizens and residents to follow preventive measures.
It commended the Interior and Health Ministries’ efforts towards ensuring the health and safety of inmates and workers in correction and rehabilitation centres by implementing health measures.
It also lauded the efforts of Bahrain’s frontline health workers on the occasion of World Health Day. On the occasion of the International Day of Conscience, which was adopted by the United Nations in response to an initiative by the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Cabinet praised his contributions to the Kingdom’s development.
The Cabinet also expressed its solidarity with Egypt in developing water security policies, and expressed the Kingdom’s support for the efforts in preserving water rights as stipulated in international laws during the filling and operating process of the Renaissance Dam
