New amendment to handover passports

A new amendment to the passports, nationality and residency affairs regulations in the Kingdom has been recently introduced, instructing to handover the original passports of newly-naturalised citizens, after it was preserved in special files earlier.

This was mentioned in the official gazette, which quoted Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on October 15, stating that “newly-naturalised citizens should be handed over their original passports, along with their new Bahraini passports.”

“Nationality, Passport and Residency Affairs Undersecretary should implement this decision, starting the next day of publishing it in the Official Gazette,” the Minister instructed.

The article was published on October 15, but the Minister’s decision was issued on October 8.
