AWA marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month

American Women’s Association (AWA) in association with Women’s Crisis Care International (WCCI) marked Domestic Violence Awareness month (October) yesterday, highlighting Bahrain’s recent achievements and gains.

Ann Roebuck, the US Ambassador's wife and honorary AWA president, was the guest of honour.

Mary-Justine Todd, founder and director of Women's Crisis Care International was the guest speaker.

‘We are highlighting some of the accomplishments made by Bahrain over the last 60 years, including the new law passed in August 2015 outlawing domestic violence, as well as discussing the new initiative being spearheaded by Women's Crisis Care International - called crisis counseling. The new crisis counseling programme is being implemented in Salmaniya hospital starting in January,’ Ms Todd told DT News.
