1,000 trees planted at Janabiyah intersection

There are now 1,000 types of trees to shade the intersection of Janabiyah, said Essam Khalaf, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning. “Also planted are various types of flowering shrubs, along with the trees, in geometric and natural shapes over the 120 thousand square meter project area,” the minister added.

Acacia, hibiscus, Indian jasmine, Jatropha are planted in triangles and opens spaces in Janabiyah.

Also used are several varieties of climbing and creeping plants. Irrigation networks are ready to keep the area green, while works are progressing to establish drains to collect water.

The minister was visiting the project area to review the works with the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Shaikh Muhammad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Director of Projects Administration. The minister directed to increase the green area by planting various types of flowering trees and shrubs.

The project, Khalaf said, is part of a move to increase the green cover in the Kingdom. The works of underground drains, ground tanks, primary and secondary irrigation networks, and pump stations were completed by 14 April 2020.

Khalaf said the ministry is intensifying the cultivation of shade trees that are environmentally friendly and suitable for the climate here.
