Bahrain expedition team has finally arrived at the Everest base camp last night yesterday and is now game for their final target - to reach the highest point on Earth.

The 16 member Everest team reached the base camp from Lobuche after resting a day there before heading to the base camp.

There are two base camps on Mount Everest - The southern camp is in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 metres (17,598 ft), and the Northern Camp is in Tibet, China, at an altitude of 5,150 metres (16,900 ft).

Trek through the Southern side is one of the most popular routes in the Himalayas.

An estimated 40,000 makes it through the path per year.

Usually, trekkers fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to save time and energy before trekking to the base camp.

Bahrain’s team arrived in Nepal in mid-September and quarantined in the capital Kathmandu for a week before heading to Everest base camp.

More than 50 Sherpas are part of the expedition. The team has already scaled Lobuche peak and Mt Manaslu in the October of 2020.
