Let’s all be ‘partners’ in fight against COVID

As a nation, it is through our collective action and commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone that we will succeed in our fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).
This was emphasised by the Cabinet during its weekly meeting held remotely yesterday and chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Cabinet highlighted the progress made by the Kingdom’s national vaccination campaign on the occasion of World Vaccination Week, noting that high vaccine uptake and a strong commitment to precautionary measures is the path to overcoming the virus.
Bahrain has authorised the emergency use of five vaccines, namely Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca’s Covishield, Sputnik V and most recently the one-shot Johnson & Johnson.
Aside from getting vaccinated, the best way to prevent the spread of the virus is by following all health and precautionary measures such as wearing a face mask when heading out in public, observing social distancing, limiting family gatherings, avoiding large crowds, and washing hands frequently.
The Cabinet praised the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s efforts in stimulating commercial activities, and instructed the formation of a working group, to follow up on recommendations made by the Joint Economic Committee – which is chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
It extended its condolences to Egypt President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the government and people following a passenger train collision in Qalubia Province.
The Cabinet also approved the following memorandums: The Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the request for approval to sign the Strategic Cooperation and Sustainable Development Framework (2020-2022) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which establishes the framework for cooperation.
The Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the developments of the East Sitra housing project and the measures it took to accelerate its completion.
The Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the Government’s responses to 10 proposals and 3 proposed laws submitted by the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet also reviewed the following topics: A memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law on external auditors. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Education on the Ministry’s report on the Ministry’s progress in relation with the Government Program for the years 2019-2022.
