Veterinary services go online in Bahrain

The livestock department at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has launched an online platform for obtaining a licence to practice the veterinary medical profession in the Kingdom.

“The service is now live on the ministry’s official website,” said Dr Khaled Ahmed Hassan, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning for Livestock.

The move, he said, is part of the ministry’s effort to transform more and more services online. The licence thus obtained is valid for five years from the date of issuance.

All professions related to the veterinary medical sector comes under the licence. “Bahraini and citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries can make use of the online services, said Dr Hassan. He added: “ The service allows residents of Bahrain to obtain a licence to open clinics, hospital, veterinary slaughterhouse, pharmacies, warehouse and laboratories.”

The service, the authority said, is also available to non-GCC citizens who work in veterinary clinics and hospital, pharmacies, warehouses and laboratories.

Dr Hassan further said those wishing to apply should refer to the guidelines available on the website before applying.

The service, which aims at avoiding in-person attendance to submit or review applications, is part of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and Government Action Plan for 2019 to 2022.

Eligible candidates should upload their bachelor degree certificates, certificate of equivalence and evaluation of academic qualification, good conduct certificate, CV, photo, copies of ID and passport, professional details, among others For candidates outside Bahrain, proof of criminal records should be from the country of residence.

The license will get cancelled if the applicant moves to another facility, according to the ministry
