Five men get jail term in fake bomb case

Five men suspected of placing a fake bomb in the area of Tubli have been slapped with 10 years behind bars each yesterday.

The defendants reportedly placed the device during the mayhem on December 5 last year, where rioters burned tyres and placed concrete blocks on a vital street in a bid to impede the road traffic flow in the area.

Before leaving the scene, the saboteurs poured oil on the street and implanted a strange object that looked like an explosive, but later it turned out to be a fake object.

The five Bahrainis have been put on trial after police investigation revealed their involvement in the incident.

Apart from being accused of putting a fake bomb in a public place, the defendants have been also charged with rioting, arson and participating in an illegal gathering.
