Massive construction projects are underway in Bahrain

Twenty-two tenders were awarded during the first quarter of the year by the Tender Board. It consisted of eight projects in the road sector, three in sanitation, six in construction and maintenance, and five in technical services, at a total cost of BD50,408,160,864. Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf said that the Ministry continues to implement the government work programmes and implement infrastructure projects that meet the needs of citizens, achieve integration with other government projects, and support the national economy.

Among the most prominent projects that have been awarded is the Road Development Project of Complex 917-Riffa-Phase One at a cost of BD735,174. It includes repaving and establishing the infrastructure for Road 1317, establishing a network for rainwater drainage, repaving Roads 1702,1723,1727, improving lighting, and providing traffic signs and signboards to raise road safety.

It also includes the project for the expansion and development of Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Street (the development of the Ma’ameer Canal) at a cost of BD2,082,625, which is one of the projects within the package to improve the movement of water flow in Tubli Bay.

A project to develop Al Fateh Street (main works) costs BD29,662,314, which extends from Shaikh Hamad Bridge in the north to the intersection of Salman Port in the south. It will provide alternative outlets for the Juffair region, and the main works will include the expansion of Al Fateh Street to four lanes in each direction with the construction of a ground tunnel with three lanes in each direction at the intersection of Al Fateh Highway with Awal Street (the intersection of the Gulf Hotel).

It has the provision of a ground intersection managed by light signals, in addition to the construction of an overpass with two lanes for traffic coming from Manama in the north on Al Fateh Street towards Juffair in the east to Prince Saud Al Faisal Street, with the closure of the intersection of Al Fateh Highway with the current Shaikh Duaij Street.

The project includes the provision of an overpass with two lanes of reverse circulation near the entrance to Al Fateh Corniche for traffic heading north.

The project of paving dirt roads in Aker, Complex 624-Phase 1 and 2 costs BD674,367, and includes paving dirt roads with a length of 6 km to serve 350 housing units, with the establishment of a rainwater drainage network and the provision of traffic safety requirements.

It includes a project to construct buildings within the fourth phase of the expansion of the Tubli sewage plant.

It aims to provide all the facilities and support services necessary to operate the sewage treatment plant in an integrated manner to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness.

The cost of the project is BD4,466,045. Minister Khalaf also indicated that the total of the tenders that were offered during the first quarter of this year amounted to 35, which were divided into eight in the road sector, six in the sanitation sector, 20 in the construction and maintenance projects sector, and one in the technical services sector. Its total estimated value is BD50,210,302.589.
