HRH Premier receives ITU award ceremony delegation

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday the Bahraini delegation that participated in the special ceremony to announce the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award conferred on him by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The award was conferred on him in recognition of his role in supporting and achieving the sustainable development goals at the local and international levels.

Prince Khalifa appreciated the members of the delegation, led by Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa, for their efforts to highlight the kingdom’s landmark sustainable strides.

HRH Premier lauded the events held by the team and its meetings with senior UN officials on the sidelines of ITU’s 150th Anniversary. He commended the reception ceremony hosted by the team at the UN headquarters, in the presence of more than 150 senior personalities from the UN and its specialised agencies.

The appreciation of international organisations, including the UN, to the kingdom’s successes in various fields is the fruitful outcome of a long march of national action during which Bahrainis presented the world with a role model of creativity and achievement.

Shaikh Hussam bin Isa handed over to HRH the Prime Minister a copy of the “Bahrain and the United Nations over the Years” book, launched at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the prestigious ITU award bestowed on HRH Premier and the 70th UN Anniversary.

The delegation comprised a number of officials from HRH Premier’s Court, as well as the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Informatics and e-Government Authority.
