The President of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, yesterday affirmed the keenness of the government to provide the best health services to the people of the Kingdom.
The government, he said, is striving to improve the quality of health services by meeting the needs of people in all governorates of the Kingdom. He added: “This is as directed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.” Shaikh Mohammed was visiting new and existing health projects aimed at enhancing the services provided to patients.
During a tour of the Khalifa City Health Center project, he said the project aims at satisfying all the health service needs of Khalifa City.
He also visited the Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Health Center project and Ahmed Ali Kanoo Health Center. He reviewed the nature of the services provided and proposals to improve the quality of the services.
The self-management initiative, he said, is one of the critical aspects of the National social health insurance programme. Self-management project, he said, envisages creating a primary health system controlled by a board of trustees to provide integrated and sustainable health services meeting the highest standards.
The project aims at enhancing freedom of choice by adopting a holistic approach and providing independence to primary health care. He said the government had conducted a detailed study on the health care services and the integrated strategy approved by the cabinet.
This strategy set the actual vision of the future system, starting from working hours, examination methodology in the central laboratory to the establishment of urgent cases centres, hotline, employment and incentives plan, and financing mechanism, Shaikh Mohammed said.
