Tubli plant restoration works completed: Works Ministry

Works Ministry announced completing the concrete restoration works of the aeration basins at the Tubli wastewater plant. Fathi Abdulla Al Farea, the Director of the Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Directorate, said the BD 1,620,308 restoration works contributed to strengthening the concrete structures and raise the plants capacity to deal with the increased flow of wastewater.

Restoration of aeration basin, associated distribution channels, a collection room for sludge, concrete structures at wastewater treatment plant were part of the project, which also replaced old and dilapidated fences as per international standards.

Kooheji Technical Services was the contractor of the project, according to Tender Board. In 2019, Bahrain’s Ministry of Works awarded a $36.5m (BHD13.8m) contract to British water treatment provider Bluewater Bio to work on the Tubli wastewater treatment plant as part of a scheme backed by UK Export and Finance (Ukef ).

Bluewater Bio’s contract entailed engineering, procurement, and construction, as well as technology suppliers, for the Tubli plant’s upgrade and expansion.
