Royal decree establishes General Sports Authority

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday issued Decree 61/2021, establishing the General Sports Authority (GSA). The General Sports Authority shall be affiliated with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
The minister in charge of sports affairs shall be responsible for GSA before the Cabinet and the Legislative Branch. The GSA shall have a board of directors comprising nine members, including the chairman, the deputy chairman and the minister.
They will be appointed as per a royal decree, based on the nomination of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and serve for a renewable four-year term. It shall also have a chief executive officer, appointed as per a royal decree, based on the nomination of the board of trustees and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
His Majesty also issued decree 63 of 2021 repealing clause 5 of paragraph 4 of article 1 of decree 17 of 2019, restructuring the Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs.
His Majesty issued Decree 65/2021, appointing Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Abdullatif Jassim Al Sakran as Ambassadors at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
HM the King ratified and issued Law 10/2021, endorsing the Air Services Agreement between Bahrain and Italy. Decree-Law 3/2001 on ratifying the Air Transportation Agreement between Bahrain and Italy shall be abrogated. HM the King issued Decree 60/2021, appointing Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa as Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council.
His Majesty issued Decree 59/2021, forming the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, under the chairmanship of Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi. They will serve for a four-year term. HM the King issued Decree 64/2021, re-structuring the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
