The BD 265,183 Sheikh Ibrahim bin Muhammad Street development project has achieved 45 % completion, said Works Ministry.

The project, which includes the road leading to the Seef complex in Muharraq, the ministry said, is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of this year.

The ministry is developing a 1.8 kilometres section of the road as part of the project. Installation of new traffic lights on the road leading to the Seef complex in Muharraq is also progressing.

The project contributes to easing traffic congestion and facilitate hassle-free movement of visitors to the area, Works Ministry added. The project, upon completion, will also have a one-way road over a distance of 300 meters, sidewalks, rainwater drainage, ground channels for future use, traffic signs and lighting poles.

Tender Board had awarded the project to Jahecon Company. Ahmed Al-Maqhawi, a representative of the seventh district in Muharraq, said the street serves several people going to the Seef Mall in Muharraq. “The project will reduce traffic congestion on Sheikh Ibrahim Street and 29th Street, which is witnessing heavy traffic due to the presence of several shops,” Al Maqhawi said.
