Housing Ministry announced distributing 1,770 housing units in the East Hidd City, where works are also progressing to hand over another 1,008 units. Bassem Al Hamar, the Housing Minister, said they handed over the housing units in Bu Shaheen, Qulaia district, Umm Al Sawali and Al Ezel neighbourhoods “Another 1,008 housing units are in the final stages of distribution,” the minister said.

The project forms part of a plan to provide 25,000 new housing units as approved by the Government Action plan for the 2019-2022 period. “The completion of five new cities in Bahrain, including East Hidd City, would not have been possible without the support of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister,” the minister said.

He also announced allocating 496 housing plots within the East Hidd City project to beneficiaries. “The construction and utilisation rate of these plots are about 50%,” the minister said. East Hidd City project, the minister said, also includes 1,600 ownership apartments, of which 520 are up for implementation through a recently launched tender.

“A tender for the second phase will include an additional 520 apartments, which will be awarded during Q4 this year,” the minister said. The deal, the minister said, would raise the accomplishment rate in the housing sector to 60%. On the road projects, the minister said the construction of the main road networks in the project is complete. The ministry, he said, is keen to provide an appropriate living environment for people within this modern city. “Infrastructure and road development is no less important than the construction of the units.”
