Bahrain fourth globally in number of vaccination doses administered per 100 people

Bahrain ranks fourth in the world in terms of the number of vaccination doses administered per 100 people. This was according to statistics presented by Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr Waleed Al Manea at yesterday’s press conference held by the National Medical Team to address the Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the Crown Prince Training and Medical Research Center of the BDF Military Hospital. Bahrain also ranks sixth in the number of tests conducted.
Dr Al Manea, member of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19), pointed out that Bahrain is one of the few countries in the world that conducts random checks proactively and in a large proportion, and is continuing in the strategy (follow, test, cure) that has proven its effectiveness in the speed of access to cases and the speed of treatment and recovery.
Meanwhile, the percentage of vaccinated people out of the total population eligible for vaccinations reached 71%, while the percentage of those vaccinated out of the entire population reached 51%.
The percentage of those vaccinated after two weeks of taking the last dose reached 46%, and the percentage of elderly people vaccinated 74.5% of the population.
Precautionary measures
Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has affirmed the importance of all citizens and residents adhering to the precautionary measures, especially during Eid Al Fitr.
Dr Shaikh Mohammed, also head of the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19, noted the importance of the full commitment of all members of society to reducing gatherings to combat the virus and mitigating its spread by limiting community contact, stressing that social gathering should be limited to one’s family.
He also stressed following the precautionary measures, even within the limits of the same family to protect the elderly, children and teenagers under the age of 18. Dr Shaikh Mohammed said the Kingdom continues to intensify its efforts to combat the virus and highlighted the importance of supporting the national campaign.
