Khalifa Grand Park, one of the largest of its kind in the Kingdom, is now open for two hours, from 5 am to 7 am, for walkers. The park, also one of the greenest in the Kingdom, sits on an area of 78,000 thousand square meters in Riffa. It houses over 350 varieties of palms and 7,000 varieties of fruit and other trees.
The park, which opened in 2012, is also the greenest in the Kingdom and offers a range of recreational and other facilities for children and grownups alike.
Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, and officials of the Southern District Municipality said they inspect the park from time to time to keep it pristine.
With a natural grass area of around 21,000 square meters, the park grows palms and other trees in 10,000 square meters. Around 3,000 square meters of the park is set aside for children. As of now, there are 13 sites designed for children inside the park.
The eastern section is for young children, while the western is for older children and teenagers. The park also has various playgrounds for enjoying sporting activities.
Another feature of the park is a one-kilometre long walkway that runs through the unique geographical landscape of the Riffa area
