Works Ministry yesterday announced completing the development works of Sheikh Hamoud bin Sabah Street in Riffa in the Southern Governorate.
The project includes re-establishing the infrastructure of a 3.8 kilometre-long street, construction of rainwater drainage, sidewalks, modernisation of lighting network and laying ground channels to avoid cutting asphalt in the future.
Ministry said the street connects Riffa, Eastern Riffa and Al Hanna and serves over 67 properties there. The street, classified as a Commercial Street, also has many government institutions like Military Museum, Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Fort, East Riffa Health Center, Family Courts, and many schools.
The project, the ministry said, contributes to easing the traffic flow to both Haniniya Street and Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Street. Abd al-Latif Muhammad al-Mujairen, the Deputy Chairman of the Southern Municipal Council, thanked the Ministry of Works for developing the street and meeting the needs of the people.
