Interior ministry yesterday rejected claims by Qatari Al Jazeera on the conditions of prisoners in the Kingdom as false and figments of its promoters’ imagination.
The ministry said that the programme titled “Human Rights Watchers Expose the Suffering of Political Prisoners in Bahrain with the Outbreak of Corona” is part of the channels continuous incitement policies against the Kingdom and its people.
Bahrain, Interior Ministry said, does not have any “political prisoners”, which is just the imagination of Al Jazeera and their promotors.
The ministry reaffirmed that those serving their terms in the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre had exhausted all options to appeal their verdict issued by a court.
Al Jazeera, the ministry said, denies the reality and facts and attributes themselves as “activists and human rights defenders”.
“They simply forget the fact that no countries and institutions in the world have escaped the pandemic, regardless of their progress.”
On this note, the ministry said Bahrain had succeeded in keeping the pandemic out of the Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
“Not any existing cases of coronavirus are currently in the facility, which also keeps a clear treatment protocol under the supervision of the ministry of health,” the Interior Ministry said.
“Rights organisations and Ombudsman in the Kingdom are also visiting the centre to ensure the rights of the inmates.”
The ministry also pointed out, “what Al Jazeera propagating is the falsification of facts and their blatant incitement policies.”
“They are seeing things with an eye closed and deliberately publishing them as facts.” The ministry called on the channel to pay attention to the violations in Qatari prisons and crimes faced by the foreign workers at their World Cup facilities.
