The Health Ministry’s Public Health Directorate has assured the public that it will intensify its field visits to all sectors to ensure full compliance with the precautionary measures to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The directorate carried out 139 inspection visits to restaurants and cafes on May 21, in coordination with Interior Ministry and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

It found that 35 restaurants had violated the mandatory health measures recommended by the Health Ministry and decided to close three restaurants for one week. These outlets allowed the entry of persons below the age of 18 and unvaccinated ones.

There were also individuals without the vaccination certificates on the BeAware application. Moreover, sanitisers and temperature metres were not available.

The restaurants which violated the provisions of ministerial edict 51/2020 were closed for one week, while cafés and restaurants with minor violations were requested to rectify them immediately.
