Bahrain reports highest single-day fatalities with 28 deaths yesterday

Bahrain announced on Monday 28 deaths from COVID-19 – the highest figure since the pandemic began, raising the number of fatalities to 848.
The number of cases in the kingdom has increased sharply during May, with 3,177 new infections reported on Sunday.
The kingdom has announced several measures to try and stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Quarantine was also reintroduced for arrivals from all other countries if the traveller has not been vaccinated.
Last week, the kingdom introduced restrictions for public places for those who have not been vaccinated. The increase in cases has been blamed on large gatherings during Ramadan and Eid.
The number of daily Covid-19 cases in Bahrain hit 2,800 yesterday, alongside 1,800 recoveries and 28 fatalities.
The virus claimed the lives of 16 Bahrainis including seven men aged 90, 72, 62, 67, 33, 50 and 48 and nine women aged 80, 72, 70, 63, 50, 42, 63, 48 and 63.
The remaining 12 were expatriates – three women aged 33, 45 and 49 and nine men aged 34, 44, 70, 55, 52, 38, 59, 56 and 62.
Of the new cases, 1,016 were expat workers, 1,761 contacts of local cases and 23 travel-related.
An additional 1,800 people recovered, taking the total recoveries to 196,685.
Of the 23,314 active cases, 349 are receiving treatment and 205 in critical condition.
Bahrain has so far registered a total of 220,847 cases.
The kingdom has conducted 4,509,481 virus tests.
