The government is calling on citizens and residents to be responsive to its constant call to follow all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). With the number of infected cases rising in the past weeks, the Cabinet emphasised the importance of everyone continuing to strictly follow all health protocols to keep oneself safe from the virus and safeguard the Kingdom’s community.

During yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, held remotely and chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak, it noted that the health and safety of citizens and residents remains a priority.

It stressed the importance of ensuring national efforts to combat COVID-19 continue to be successful in safeguarding the health of all.

In this regard, the Cabinet commended the efforts and commitment of the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus and the many frontline workers guaranteeing the safety of everyone.

It reviewed a report on COVID-19 developments and underscored the importance of intensifying the national vaccination campaign and periodically reviewing precautionary measures, as well as taking necessary steps to maintain public health.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet noted the outcomes of the virtual emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the situation in Gaza, based on an invitation by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The emergency meeting addressed initiatives to stop the dangerous escalation of conflict in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories, and to reach a peaceful solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The Cabinet affirmed Bahrain’s firm position of support for the Palestinian cause and their rights to establish an independent state with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital following international legitimacy decisions, the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.

It welcomed the ceasefire reached between Israel and Palestine in Gaza, considering it a step that supports efforts to promote comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

The Cabinet praised the efforts of Egypt and the Arab community in the negotiations between the two parties to reach a long-term agreement in ending the military operations in Gaza.
