BD3.7m Multiple Sclerosis Centre works on schedule

Works of the BD3.7 million Multiple Sclerosis Centre in Muharraq Medical Complex is progressing and on schedule, said a work ministry official.

The project, Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said includes a Long Stay Care Centre, for which the construction is underway. The project, funding by the National Bank of Bahrain and expecting completion in the first quarter of 2022, has now completed 17%, said the Undersecretary for Construction and Maintenance Projects.

The funding covers the cost of construction, equipment, medical devices and furniture. The centre, also the first specialised and independent centre for treating MS patients in Bahrain, Mishaal said, will provide the best in class diagnostic and therapeutic services for people with this disease.

Commenting on the occasion of World Sclerosis Day, which falls on May 30, he said, “We ask God Almighty to bless all the injured with a speedy recovery.” The centre will work in coordination with the Ministry of Health.

The centre includes seven outpatient clinics, an MPI diagnostic department, a physiotherapy department, a manual exercise therapy department, private and public treatment rooms, a laboratory, a pharmacy, a scientific research centre, a lecture hall, medical warehouses, service building, administrative offices and parking lots.
