Information Minister launches media training programme

Minister of Information Affairs Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi yesterday inaugurated the Vocational Training Programme at the ministry’s Training Center, during which a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Information Ministry on one side and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Royal University for Women and Bahrain Development Bank on the other side.

We are delighted that this vocational training programme has seen the light, the minister said. He added that the programme conforms to the ministry's development strategy targets enhancing the national cadres' skills.

He also stressed the importance of investing in human resources to achieve the desired media development. He noted the ministry's development strategy aimed at uplifting its staff's performance level in line with the development of technological and digital equipment.

Labour Fund (Tamkeen)'s CEO Shaikh Mohammad bin Isa Al Khalifa said the vocational training programme comes within Tamkeen's programme (Be Professional) which provides vocational development opportunities for Bahraini citizens.

He added that the MoU is a model of cooperation among all sides to upgrade media personnel.

Royal University for Women President Dr. Mazin Juma explained that the university has made its capabilities available for the Information Affairs Authority with the support and financing of Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank and in cooperation with two French training institutions in addition to other parties.

The agreement comes in implementation of the directives of the Higher Education Council to get the university in close relation with the labour market.

He added the MoU stipulates that the university is to train 24 employees of the Information Ministry, in addition to another group to be trained by two French institutions.

Bahrain Development Bank President said the training programme, which includes 56 students of both genders, aims to develop their capabilities in the media field, it also targets creating job opportunities for national cadres.

The MoU aims to develop 40 employees of the Information Ministry in the area of press and multimedia, which consequently contribute to uplifting the national media field.
