Bahraini jailed for conning fellow citizen out of BD170,000

The High Criminal Court sentenced a man and his son to five years in prison for conning out their fellow Bahraini of BD170,000 after convincing their victim they had the expertise to invest his money.
It also ordered them to return the sum they embezzled from their victim. They are said to have deceived the plaintiff with their ability to invest his money. They told him that they will return the money with 10 per cent profits.
However, the victim did not receive anything from them and he filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution after his attempts to get the money failed. “They give me 150 cheques against the money I invested with them.
I managed to withdraw 16 cheques, but the other cheques started to bounce back because the defendants’ accounts were closed. I communicated with them to give me my money.
They were ignoring my calls,” the victim told prosecutors. “I later found out that they didn’t have any money, so I filed a complaint against them.” The son, meanwhile, refuted the plaintiff’s claims that the latter was a partner with them in several projects.
