Work for the expansion and deepening of the Ma’ameer Canal, which is located south of Tubli Bay, has started.

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning said that this is part of a package of projects that the Ministry is working to implement.

It aims to improve the environment and flow of water in Tubli Bay.

It includes expanding the Ma’ameer Canal with a length of 750 metres and a width of 180 metres, in addition to digging it to a depth of two metres, to improve the movement of water flow from the south side.

The expansion works will increase the flow of water to the Tubli Gulf and improve water quality.

The construction works include increasing the length of the current channel with a length of 24 metres from the north and south to reach the total length of 100 metres, in addition to expanding the waterway by constructing parallel pipes with a length of 100 metres so that the total width of the stream is 70 metres.

The number of tubes is 12, and each tube has a drop of 1.2 metres.

This project comes in the implementation of the government’s directives aimed at improving the environment and preserving marine resources.

It is also part of the implementation of recommendations for environmental studies that were previously conducted to identify the requirements for environmental improvement.
