The Southern Municipality, in cooperation with the Municipal Council, has placed warning notices on 33 abandoned and destroyed vehicles in various regions after the end of the legal period, in implementation of the Public Road Works Law and the Public Cleanliness Law.
This campaign was implemented in order to reduce the distortion of the general appearance and the urban and aesthetic character of residential areas and neighbourhoods.
The municipality periodically checks occupancy violations that cause harm to the environment and limits citizens’ complaints about the presence of these vehicles, particularly cars, on the outskirts of the public road, which makes it difficult for them to move while travelling and driving.
The municipality confirmed that this campaign will continue throughout the year and aim to remove violations of all kinds in various regions of the southern governorate.
The Public Hygiene Law No. 10 of 2019 Article No. (7) states that “the owners of neglected vehicles and all kinds of scraps are prohibited from placing or leaving them in the streets or on sidewalks, in squares, public squares and beaches, and the municipality or the competent secretariat shall warn the owners of these vehicles.
“Abandoned and scrap items shall be removed and transported to the places determined by the municipality or the competent secretariat within 48 hours, and the warning shall be by placing a mark on it indicating the entry into force of the said period and the action taken in this regard in coordination with the competent authorities.”
