As the Reds push hard to win a spot in the FIFA World Cup 2022, Bahrainis are coming out in full strength to cheer on the team. Yesterday, Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi came out wearing red to cheer the team.

The team on Thursday grabbed a thumping win by blasting eight goals against none scored by Cambodia to rise to the top of Group C with 12 points in a joint qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Bahrain now has two m o re games ahead of them in their bid to make it to the next round. Works Minister Essam Khalaf also posted thumps up for National Team on the ministry’s Instagram account.

Also, coming out to encourage the team were: Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Bassem bin Yacoub Al Hamer, the Minister of Housing, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, Aymen Tawfiq Almoayyed, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Media Affairs.

The ministers affirmed their full support to the Bahrain National Team, wishing them all the best in their march ahead to the World Cup.

The Reds had come close twice to qualify for the FIFA World Cup but lost those chances to Trinidad and New Zealand in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

Now, with a new breed of talent, Team Bahrain is well on their way to realising its World Cup dreams once more. The entire nation is watching with bated breath as the likes of Alaa Hubail, Ali Husein Baba, and Mohamed Salmeen lead the way.

Portuguese coach Helio Sousa is grooming the team that won the West Asian Football Federation Championship and the Gulf Cup in 2019 to complete the job and take Bahrain to the world Finals for the first time in their history.

The team will return to action on Monday night against Iran, which has 11 points. They will play Hong Kong in their final match on June 15.
