Several cafeterias and restaurants in Bahrain continue to do business by flouting all Covid protocols and hygiene standards set by the Health Ministry, an investigation by The Daily Tribune has revealed.

This is despite repeated announcements and warnings issued by the authorities and extensive coverage of news in the media on businesses being shut down for violations during the pandemic.

These wayside food outlets publicly spurn all government rules and regulations, thus crippling efforts by the health and police to survive the coronavirus. The restaurants and cafeterias are also known to be reportedly earning around BD180 daily.

As is evident in the video clippings, neither the sellers nor customers follow any Covid protocols, including wearing masks, gloves, sanitisers or even maintain social distancing.

As the Kingdom of Bahrain struggles to flatten the curve, there is no excuse even for the unhygienic way in which food and beverages are being served. The reporter hopes that these visuals will act as a tip-off to the concerned authorities, including the Health Ministry.
