Works Affairs issues 174 compliance certificates in Q1, earns BD123,100

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning announced providing 174 compliance certificates for civil engineering materials, valuing around 123,100 dinars, during the first quarter of this year. Works Ministry is currently providing material compliance certificates through its eService in line with the general policy to reduce points of meetings.

The ministry is also accepting only online payments for its Material/Product Assessment eService (e-MAS).

Further breaking down the list, the ministry said that 65 certificates were for civil engineering materials, 35 for architectural engineering materials, and 74 for mechanical and electrical engineering materials. On the total number of applications, Works Ministry said it received 163 applications for material approval.

The application fee for material/product assessment eServices, according to Works Affairs webpage, is BD25. The assessment fee for material/product is BD675, and Supplier/Factory/ Laboratory is BD375.

The Materials Engineering Department is responsible for conducting all necessary tests to ensure and control the quality of building and construction materials and the adequacy of specifications in all government projects (including buildings, construction, roads and infrastructure).

The office for issuing compliance certificates includes three departments: The Research and Consulting Services Department, The Department of Building Materials Laboratory and Chemical Analysis, and The Department of Road Materials and Geotechnical Engineering.
