Breaking quarantine rules and uploading it on social media platforms has landed a man in the dock. The man’s irresponsible actions backfired when police officers came across the video of the incident doing rounds on social media.

The video clip shows a man wearing a green T-shirt displaying his electronic wristband to a person behind the camera. The footage, taken outside, also shows another person sitting in the background.

Police said they charged the man with refusal to adhere to mandatory Covid-19 measures to prevent the pandemic. Bahraini law requires every person confined to their home or government quarantine centres to wear the device to ensure they comply with quarantine measures.

People wearing bracelets are not allowed to stray more than 15 metres from their mobile phone. The bracelets help prevents quarantine violators from escaping detection by leaving their phones at home or quarantine centre when they go outside.

Breaking quarantine measures in the Kingdom attract either a minimum of three months in jail, a fine ranging from 1,000 Bahraini dinars to 10,000 dinars, or a combination of both.
