Football is a game that never ceases to grow, even though the world has put a brief halt to it over a year ago. Factually, the COVID-19 outbreak had pulled the chains on activities all around the globe. As usual, the fightback was on, though a bit late, but the world is catching up.

Things are progressing on a positive note here in the Kingdom also, especially for soccer enthusiasts. As the COVID-19 curve gets stamps down, several plans are sprouting up to take the game of football to the next level. One amongst them is the construction of five new football grounds with artificial turfs by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs. The news also comes when the Kingdom is weighing its chances for the upcoming world cup.

The ministry is also planning to give a new life to eight other football playgrounds here. The new artificial grass football fields are to come up at Al Dair Club, Nuwaydirat Club, Bahrain Club, Al-Qadisiya Youth Centre and Tubli Club, a tender launched for the projects this week shows.

The playgrounds will have a field size of 40m×20m. The ministry is also going ahead with plans to renew the turfs of eight existing football grounds. The project is up for execution in two phases, where phase 1 will focus on Budaiya Club, Ittifaq Club, Isa Town Club and Hamad Town Club.

Phase 2 is for Etehad Club, Sitra club, Najma club, and Al Ahli club. The tender board will announce the winning bidders by next month on eight. Separately, the ministry has also announced the construction of a new artificial turf football ground at Ma’ameer. The ground will have dimensions of 105m×68m. A tender launched for the work closes on 7th next month.
