Key officials to tackle ‘challenges and opportunities’ facing Bahrain and Gulf region

The 4th edition of the annual forum of Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) will kick off today under the theme “Strategies of Achieving Food Security: Challenges and Opportunities”. The virtual forum, which will continue until June 23, will spotlight challenges to food security, in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to achieve food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa will participate in the inaugural session of the forum to shed light on the visions of the legislative and executive branches.
The opening session also includes a panel discussion in which the Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani will take part.
Derasat Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa will deliver the inaugural speech.
A host of officials and specialists will participate in the forum which will cast light on the concept and reality of food security in Bahrain and the Kingdom’s strategies to face this challenge.
Regional and international experiences will also be reviewed alongside mechanisms of achieving food security at the Gulf level.
