The Health Ministry has announced the extension of the date of the Sputnik vaccine’s second dose and rescheduling it until the arrival of the new batches.
According to the Ministry, it is due to the rescheduling of production and the manufacturer’s supply operations. It stressed that the extension in taking the second dose will not affect the effectiveness of the vaccine and that increasing the period between the two doses may lead to an increase in vaccination efficacy in some cases.
The Ministry said that it communicated with the manufacturer to provide the necessary quantity and to ensure with it the dates of delivery of shipments to Bahrain.
The dates of all those registered to take the second dose of the Sputnik vaccine will be rescheduled through the application of a conscious society according to the dates of the new batches scheduled to arrive in the Kingdom.
The Ministry noted that the extension of the period between the first and second doses came in accordance with the recommendations concluded by the Vaccination Committee at the Health Ministry in the Kingdom, through its follow-up and evaluation of the mechanism of action of the anti-coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations.
The Ministry stressed the importance of taking the second dose in order to achieve full immunity against the virus.
