Finance Minister praises HM King royal initiatives

Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa commended the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to launch a stimulus financial and economic package to handle the repercussions of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and maintain sustainable development efforts.

He also lauded the Cabinet’s decision, under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to re-open the door for application to the Liquidity Fund while focusing on small and medium companies.

Shaikh Salman said the decision to re-open the door for applications to the Liquidity Fund is an assertion of the leadership’s keenness to continue harnessing all capabilities to mitigate the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on various vital sectors in the Kingdom.

He noted the importance of the move in stimulating the entrepreneurship environment, promoting economic growth and boosting prosperity.

The Finance Minister underlined the need to continue building on the achievements brought about thanks to the national efforts led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Salman was speaking during a virtual meeting yesterday with Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Tamkeen Board Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Chairman Samir Abdullah Nass, National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Board Chairman Farooq Al Moayed, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Board Chairman Murad Ali Murad, Bahrain Islamic Bank (BIB) Board Chairman Dr Essam Abdullah Fakhro, Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) Board Chairman Khalid Amru and Chief Executives of the national banks.

The Finance Minister expressed thanks and respect to all parties for their support and one-team spirit to attain the desired goals. Discussions focused on procedures related to carrying out the decision of the Cabinet.
