Housing loans exceed BD14 million: minister

The housing ministry has disbursed BD14.309 million in housing finances to 284 citizens in six months, said the minister yesterday. According to Resolution No. (909) of 2015, the funds were granted from January to June, said Basim Al Hamer.
Breaking down further, the minister said the ministry funded 142 constructions worth BD7,547,000, 127 purchases worth 6,615,000 and 15 restoration projects worth BD147,400 in six months.
“Funding for restoration is an additional service the ministry offers to the citizens,” Al Hamer said, adding that the scheme depends on the family’s needs and does not exceed BD20,000.
The ministry also revealed that they are experiencing a steady growth in the demand for housing finance, which they are disbursing in cooperation with the Housing Bank.
Housing Minister Basim Al Hamer said that those wishing to avail the housing finance should apply either through the ministry’s website www.housing.gov.bh or the e-government portal.
