Students go gung ho as Afridi visits Urdu School

Claps and cheers reverberated in the auditorium of Pakistan Urdu School yesterday as renowned Pakistani cricket star Shaheed Afridi made an appearance. And when the anchor of the programme announced the achievements of the guest, the chant ‘boom boom Afridi’ filled the auditorium.

And finally, when the aggressive batsman, who holds the record of the longest six of any form of the game, climbed the stage to address the students, the mood turned further upbeat. The all rounder addressed the students and asked them to enjoy their school life, as they are going to miss it, one they finish it.

He encouraged students to strive for the best and not to get disappointed if they fail. Before leaving the auditorium, he expressed his desire to take a selfie with students. Without wasting a moment, the students rushed towards him to get included in the frame.

As he reached his car after bidding adieu to students, he found a group of young women eagerly waiting to see him and take a selfie with him. Afridi did not disappoint his women fans and allowed them to take selfies with him before he boarded the car. The cricketer is on a visit to Bahrain to raise fund for Shahid Afridi Foundation, an organization that works to promote education, health and skills among underserved communities.
