Cabinet Affairs Ministry Undersecretary His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa praised the fruitful and constructive cooperation that exists between the Kingdom of Bahrain and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

This came as HH Shaikh Isa received yesterday a delegation from the UN-Habitat Regional Office for the Arab States, led by its Director, Dr Erfan Ali.

Fernanda Leonardo nominated to head the programme office in Bahrain, and Amira Al Hassan, the programme’s representative in Kuwait, were present.

The Undersecretary stressed that the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa had a great priority in achieving sustainable development and sustainable urban development through the service projects in Bahrain.

His Highness noted the keenness of the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to raise the level of services and improving their quality, which was reflected in improving the standard of living of citizens, which is in the direction of achieving Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and promoting the achievement of the 2030 sustainable development goals and the new urban agenda.

Dr Erfan praised the Kingdom’s efforts in supporting the activities of the program at the regional and international levels, and its efforts to promote joint international action aimed at supporting sustainable urban development through its membership in the Executive Council for the programme.

He stressed the programme’s readiness to support Bahrain’s efforts in achieving the new urban agenda, noting Bahrain’s status for being the only country in the GCC that is preparing a report on the progress made in implementing the new urban development goals, where the national reports will be presented at the special session of the United Nations General Assembly in April 2022.
