A homeless Indian man who sought shelter in a park in Manama has been found dead.
The deceased has been identified as Somu from Thiruvanthapuram in the south Indian state of Kerala.
The cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack.
The 45-year-old, who was a hotel employee, apparently lost his job months ago due to the Covid-19 crisis and for the last four months has been living in a park near the Al Hamra Cinema in Manama.
He was occasionally fed by passersby.
However social workers who offered help were politely turned away by Somu, sources said.
He was found dead in the park on Friday afternoon.
Social workers are trying to repatriate the body in coordination with the Indian Embassy.
