The minor Criminal court awarded a person two years in jail on charges of insulting the judiciary. The head of the Southern Governorate Prosecution said the man published an audio recording on social-media platforms filled with insults against the judicial authorities.
The prosecution launched an investigation following a request from the Supreme Judicial Council to investigate the matter. Investigators found that the audio clips included statements insulting the judiciary and compromise its capacity as one of the state’s authorities.
