Salmaniya Medical Complex is to get a capacity uplift for its accident and emergency department, which, according to the Ministry of Health, handles over 66,000 patients a year.

A tender launched for the work says that SMC now aims to expand the ambulance parking area of its Accident and Emergency section “to provide more rooms for Pediatrics and Adult patients”. Besides, SMC also plans to increase the number of clinics there, says the tender launched by the Ministry of Health.

The closing date of the tender, requiring a BD500 bond, is 04 August 2021. The latest tender forms part of a series of other tenders launched for SMC by the Health Ministry in the past several months. A tender dated March 2021 for SMC called for constructing a lift room, expanding the cubical at maternity and replacing existing lifts. The work attracted six bids ranging from BHD 119,345.260 to BHD 199,500.000.

Another tender dated February this year was also for the Accident and Emergency wing concerning Civil and plumbing works. The work attracted 12 contractors. Their bids ranged between BHD 169,158.200 (Trass International Construction) and BHD 419,633.550 (Arabian Houses Contracting).

In 2020, the Ministry of Health launched at least four tenders for various renovation works at SMC. They were for the renovation of the Radiologist room, blood collection section, and Audiology booth.
