A Bahraini man tried to smuggle five kilograms of hashish through King Fahad Causeway by hiding it in coffee bags. The defendant was tasked to do it in return for a commission worth BD3,000.
Customs officials were already aware that the defendant would attempt to smuggle the drugs after a tip-off was sent to them. And once he arrived, he was thoroughly searched and nothing was found.
As a result, police dogs were brought and discovered the drugs hidden in the coffee bags. He immediately informed police officers that he was requested to contact another man upon his arrival in Bahrain.
He was allowed to, as police officers wanted to arrest the one who was supposed to receive the drugs. A third man was arrested also in the sting operation, and the three were put on trial on charges of attempting to smuggle and sell illicit drugs.
