40 municipal projects worth BD22m underway in Bahrain

Forty pioneering projects at an estimated cost of BD22 million are being implemented all over the governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The municipal projects aim to raise the living and social standards of the population and support the government’s efforts to achieve a healthy environment for all.
This was discussed during yesterday’s weekly meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, held remotely and chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
HH Shaikh Khalid is also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure Projects. Present were ministers, committee members and officials from the ministries and relevant government service agencies.
Part of the meeting was devoted to reviewing a presentation made by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, on municipal affairs projects for the current fiscal year 2021-2022.
Eng. Khalaf also briefed them on the government’s other strategic projects with extended implementation until next year. He indicated that 65% of the projects, at a cost of BD15 million, are either under implementation or under tendering, while 23% of them, at a cost of BD3.41 million, are under design.
The remaining percentage is for projects under study at a cost of BD3.42 million.The municipal projects consist of establishing 10 parks, two coasts, five walking tracks, and beautifying 10 intersections.
