A Bahraini man is standing trial before the High Criminal Court for disfiguring his divorcee’s face by using a chemical compound. The defendant reportedly poured acid on the victim’s face following disagreements.
It caused permanent wounds in her face which was deemed as 15% disability. The incident happened while the woman was at the defendant’s family house. “I was sitting at his family house and he requested me to go with him to the kitchen to show him to use the cooker.
He locked the door when I entered and he asked me about the nature of my relationship with one of the men,” the woman told prosecutors. “I denied knowing him and he tried to kiss me. I refused, and I sat down. I cried and I screamed for help. However, he attacked me and attempted to strangle me. I pushed him and he poured an agent on my face.” “I touched my face and I was shocked to find my skin was melting. I discovered that he poured acid on my face.” The defendant said, however, that he was holding a glass and it fell by mistake from his hand.
