Youth gets jail for Sheltering fugitive
The Lower Criminal Court sentenced a 20-year-old to three years behind bars for sheltering a wanted fugitive.
The latter was implicated in three terror cases, and was given shelter by the accused for one month in his house in the Northern Governorate before police discovered him. He reportedly tried to evade arrest but was eventually nabbed.
The 20-year-old admitted during questioning that he know that the person he was sheltering was wanted in connection with several cases.
Earlier this year, A Bahraini woman convicted of sheltering three fugitives had her appeal against a one-year-jail sentence rejected. Prosecutors claimed the 32-year-old rented an apartment in Sitra to hide the convicted men. Two of the fugitives were arrested following a police raid on the apartment after investigations confirmed their whereabouts.
The third man, however, was arrested from a local dental clinic, where he was accompanying the accused.
"I am working as a cashier in a local store, and the fugitives are my friends," The woman told prosecutors.
