SCD snatches 26th Bahraini victim in 2015
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) snatched its 26th Bahraini victim this year on Wednesday, it has been confirmed.
In a statement issued by Bahrain Society for SCD Patients Care yesterday, it was declared, “Mirza Abdulhussain Swaid, 34, who hails from Tubli, is the 26th death case among Bahrainis caused by SCD this year.”
Quoting the deceased’s brother, the statement read, “Mirza was admitted to the hospital several times recently. His conditioned worsened during the past month and he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), where he took his last breaths on Wednesday afternoon.”
The statement also mentioned, “family members of the deceased are intending to file a lawsuit against SMC’s Genetic Blood Diseases Centre, claiming that the medical crew treated the deceased with negligence and carelessness.”
As reported earlier, Bahraini Naeema Makki, 34, who succumbed to the disease and was declared dead on September 23 was the 25th Bahraini SCD patient to die in 2015 and the second in September.
