Bahrain is fully committed to extending support to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 response and ongoing efforts to end the pandemic.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister made the assurance as he received yesterday WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at Gudaibiya Palace. The WHO chief inaugurated the new WHO office in Manama yesterday as part of his official two-day visit to the Kingdom.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted that the opening of the WHO office will strengthen an already close partnership between Bahrain and the world body. His Royal Highness was briefed on the WHO’s global mitigation efforts. Dr Ghebreyesus expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and for the generous hospitality.
He commended Team Bahrain’s coordinated and comprehensive mitigation efforts, noting WHO’s interest in further strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom across various health fields.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the relentless efforts of Team Bahrain’s frontline workers and support staff to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
He added that their commitment to safeguarding the health of Bahraini citizens and residents has played an integral role in reducing infection levels. HRH Prince Salman underscored the importance of community awareness in supporting Bahrain’s COVID-19 response.
